The beautiful hills of the Annamalai host some incredible wildlife. It remains untouched compared to many other tourist-saturated destinations in the Western Ghats. Though Valparai is mostly owned by private tea companies, a large part of the area has a lot to offer for nature enthusiasts and wildlifers.
Species found in the landscape include giant squirrels, Nilgiri Tahr, civet cats, muntjacs, gaur (Indian bison), porcupines, flying squirrels, mouse deer and a large number of bird species including the great Indian hornbill and more.
Sighting these species in their natural environment will help individuals understand wild animals better. Participants on our previous trips have had a chance to see the great Indian hornbill, lion-tailed macaques, flying squirrels, Nilgiri tahr, muntjacs, gaur, Malabar hornbills, brown palm civet cat and a lot more.
